How We Work
-
Wildlings offers small group alternative provision for children and young people who benefit from a quieter pace, a relational environment, and learning that begins with wellbeing rather than targets.
Our provision is delivered within our private woodland setting on the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. Sessions are calm, nature-connected, and structured around confidence, regulation, communication, and practical life skills - helping children and young people re-engage through shared experience at a manageable pace.
Wildlings Group Ltd is an approved alternative provision supplier and meets all required local authority due diligence, safeguarding, and compliance standards.
-
At Wildlings, learning begins with wellbeing.
We create environments where children and young people feel safe, settled, and able to engage at their own pace. Rather than prioritising academic targets, we focus on the foundations from which meaningful learning grows - emotional regulation, confidence, communication, and a sense of belonging.
Our approach is relational, predictable, and consistent. Staff are experienced, attuned, and skilled at adapting to what each young person needs in the moment. We work within clear boundaries while remaining flexible enough to meet children where they are.
We do not separate children by diagnosis or difficulty. Our sessions bring young people together in shared woodland experiences that allow different strengths, needs, and personalities to coexist and benefit from one another.
-
Wildlings operates a deliberately blended group model. County-funded and school-commissioned placements sit alongside privately funded families within the same small, consistent group. This creates a genuinely inclusive environment and avoids the isolation that can come from provision designed exclusively around high-need referrals.
Group sizes are kept intentionally small. This allows for meaningful relationships, individual attention, and a supportive atmosphere where young people can feel seen without being singled out.
Wildlings is a low-risk provision. We do not admit students who require restrictive physical intervention or planned handling. Our environment is designed to prevent escalation through relational, attuned support - not to manage crisis.
Our primary offer is group-based provision within our woodland setting. Subject to staffing availability, we are also able to offer 1:1 placements on site or in the community in some circumstances. Please enquire directly if this is relevant to your situation and we will let you know what is currently possible.
-
Wildlings has extensive experience supporting flexi-schooling arrangements for children who remain on roll at school but benefit from part-time attendance elsewhere.
We work closely with SENCOs, class teachers, and local authority contacts to establish arrangements that are clearly understood by all involved and appropriately documented. Where a child's school is open to flexi-schooling but unsure how to proceed, we can help guide that process.
We also accept school-commissioned supplementary placements for children who are attending school but require additional support or an alternative environment for part of their week.
-
We welcome referrals from:
Local authorities commissioning alternative provision under an EHCP or EOTAS arrangement
Schools seeking supplementary or flexi-school placements for children on roll
SENCOs exploring options for children who are struggling to access a full school timetable
Families navigating the system independently who are seeking a supported, nature-based provision
Wildlings is best suited to children and young people who can engage safely within a small group environment. All behaviour is understood as communication and approached through emotional attunement and connection. We are not able to accept referrals for students whose needs require planned physical intervention or a higher staffing ratio than our group model provides.
If you are unsure whether a particular young person is suitable, please get in touch before making a formal referral. We would rather have an honest conversation early than make a placement that is not right for the child or the group.
If you are a parent researching options on behalf of your child and are unsure whether Wildlings is the right fit or how to access funding, we are happy to talk it through. We can help you understand what questions to ask your school or local authority and whether our provision could form part of your child's package.
